Al Aqr: Terraced Farms, Rose, and Pomegranates

Your adventure begins by walking amongst old traditional houses, giving you the ultimate ancient villager experience. You will then explore lush terraced farms and fruit orchards of Al Aqr. This village is especially famous for its pomegranates, which are often ready-to-pick and eat during harvest season.
You'll learn about the village's customs, traditions, and ancient professions, including the art of rosewater distillation, passed down through centuries of local expertise.
Our knowledgeable guide will tell you tales of resilience and resourcefulness, illustrating how traditional farming practices have not only sustained but enriched this community for generations.

Al Ayn: UNESCO World Heritage Site

Our next stop is best known for its ancient falaj irrigation system. You’ll encounter it among traditional mud-brick architecture, built from a mixture of mud and goat hair which keeps the stones intact.
Additionally, you'll enjoy strolling through the stunning terraced rose farms during their blooming season. In the Spring, this experience adds an extra layer of excitement as you’ll be able to do some rose picking!
The falaj irrigation system symbolises more than just a water distribution method. It stands as a living testament to Oman's ancient wisdom, cultural identity, and sustainable resource management practices. To this day, you’ll see that it has an ongoing use for food security, water sustainability, and preserving Oman’s heritage.

Al Sharega

The third village, Al Sharega, will welcome you with breathtaking views and warm hospitality from its locals. Here, you’ll gracefully round off your hike with a peaceful ambiance that definitely contrasts with the hustle and bustle of urban life.
As you take in the panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and the agricultural landscape, you'll appreciate why it's known as the village with the most terraced agriculture for pomegranates, olives, peaches, and apricots. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the rich history of the village.
For a truly unique experience, consider booking in advance a pizza cooking session on the terraces, where you can enjoy a hands-on culinary adventure among the stunning panoramic scenery.
